Embracing Diabetes Podcast, episode 10

New Podcast! GET THIS IN YOUR EARS.

Nutrition is the beating heart of diabetes with physical activity in close partnership. A particular method of eating healed my complicated relationship with food while indoor cycling classes kept my anger in check.

Listen in as three women with Type 1 Diabetes have a candid chat about growing up in the healthcare system.

Hosts, Amy and Liz, discuss my adventures growing up with T1D and how these experiences became a book after I started working in the same clinic that I was diagnosed in. Here is where my personal and professional world burst into a million opportunities for improvement.

We don’t often talk about our relationship with food that begins from the moment of diagnosis. Teaching a child to count and measure everything they eat within hours of finding out they have an incurable disease, is heavy information and hard to take in. As a teenager, controlling food marked the beginning of my journey towards rebellion and ultimately searching for a better solution to save my life.
We go into the details on the impact of language, CGMs, my choice to stop eating animal products, and how every system of the body benefits from healthy lifestyle choices.
