Type One Determination

Man, have I got a story for you.

And a lot of applicable HELP to go along with it.

Let’s change your life today...

In my book, you'll notice that I'm not exactly thrilled about the way many people with ALL types of diabetes (and their families) are treated.

I have a lot to say about the historic approach to diabetes management and the antiquated “establishment,” but the MAIN reason I wrote Type One Determination is because I knew so many people would see themselves in my story.

And I wanted to tell them EVERYTHING I now know as a result of living it.

You can be an athlete. You can eat carbs.

You can be one of the healthiest people you know.

And I can prove it.

“Type One Determination by registered dietitian, Lauren Plunkett, is a rich and relatable book for everyone who has type 1 diabetes, or who is connected personally or professionally with people that do.

The book chronicles Lauren's journey, from the time she was diagnosed to the present day.

She shares the very personal sorrows, frustrations, and challenges associated with such a life-altering diagnosis.

I love this story because the author not only navigates her way through major obstacles, but she becomes a powerful and passionate advocate for living your healthiest, most fulfilling life with type 1 diabetes.

This is a resource that will inspire, educate, and empower its readers.”

“Type One Determination is a must read for people living with diabetes and health care professionals alike. Author Lauren Plunkett writes with passion about the 245,000 hours she has lived with type 1 diabetes – from diagnosis to the time this book was published.

She shares, with raw emotion, the challenges she faced as a teen and young adult while navigating an impersonal, rules-driven health system that served up heaps of judgement.

Plunkett asked difficult questions of herself and the diabetes care providers who she met over these years ultimately evolving holistic nutrition and fitness strategies and ways of thinking that have led to health and well-being.

Type One Determination is not only fun to read but is chock full of science-based and credible information about nutrition and exercise. Above all, the author offers sage counsel about navigating life with diabetes.”
